It’s mostly the ocean itself that I adore–and not so much feeling the sand between my toes or lying under an umbrella. And when all is said and done, I’d much rather be hiking up the side of some mountain than relaxing by the ocean. That’s what is so appropriately awe-inspiring about Santorini though–you can perch up along rugged cliffs and admire the vastness of the ocean or you can find yourself a beach to lounge about on. So–While Santorini isn’t number one on my list of favorite places, it is yet a place I still think about, dream about even. Contrary to popular belief, I didn’t find it over-rated at all; I found it to be a place for relaxation, calmness. serenity–quite contrary to the typical adventures we have embarked on–and truthfully it was actually nice. I admire it most for its unlikeness to any other place–its isolation from the rest of the world and its unique homes and culture. And I especially remember it for the way the ocean, or rather the horizon, blended almost seamlessly into the sky.
So I’ve put together this photo diary to reflect what I loved most about this province.
